Favorite Rides in Florida??? 3 Years, 4 Months ago
My girlfriend and I took a 3 day cruise to start the New Year! Great trip day 1: Tiusville (Space Center) across the state and south to Naples. Day 2: Naples across the Everglades via Tamiami Trail and up to Jupiter. Day 3: A1A (beachside) back to Cocoa Beach. We had a blast!! Got me thinking what next? Looking for Ideas and suggestions for roads to ride and destinations in Florida. I like the 2 to 3 day trip idea. Those not from Florida may not understand how big a state we have! I'm a native Floridian but still a lot to see! Hope to have some fun with this!

We enjoyed Tamiami Trail, especially our stop in Everglades City! Nice ride! Met some people out of Miami area who make it a regular ride across.nobull60 wrote:

But really, for someone who is visiting there are nice roads along A1A in various cities along the east coast which is the beach road on the east coast. The overseas highway from Key Largo to Key West is awesome. Tamiami Trail in the Everglades. Saint Augustine has the Loop which is very senic. And then there is South Beach in Miami Beach to see all the weirdo's. Hope that helps.

Oh come on now Bruce! It aint that bad... if you like straight and flat!!!
If someone from Florida wants a good 2 to 3 day ride... Western North Carolina would be where I would head to... as a matter of fact Im headed back that direction in a few days if anyone wants to join us!!!
Bruce, thanks for the hospitality for today... again! We all enjoyed your company and please tell Sam "Thank You" from all 3 of us!!

Sleepy Hollow, Inverness (very motorcycle friendly - many charity runs stop there - usually lots of motorcycles); Cedar Key; Ocala; Ocala National Forrest; home ... should be 2-3 day ride.

We switch off several routes on our weekend rides. My favorite would be Lake County and up to Ocala National Park. Lake County is the highest part of Florida and has lots of hills (yes, Florida has hills) and curves along State Road 40, 42 and 46 and also U.S. 19. The "Loop" is nice North of Daytona in Ormond Beach when it isn't Bike Week or Biketoberfest. A1A anywhere along the East Coast and U.S. 1.

Gonna try getting down to Sebring and the center part of the state around Okeechobee Lake the next couple of weeks.

I just joined the Star Touring and Riding Association today and I am riding with the Orlando chapter Sunday so I am sure I will have some new routes to report soon.

Our trip took us through the center near Lake Whales, Sebring and so forth. Not much around Sebring. Lake Whales is pretty! Other than that a lot of straight roads through farm land.

One of my favorites has to be the Ozello run (just south of Crystal River). The Ozello run is County Road 494 heading west from US Highway 98 in between Homosassa Springs and Crystal River. Its a two lane road with tons of sweeping curves and water/marsh on either side of it. The road dead ends (10 miles from US 98) at a little seafood resturant on the Gulf. Although, the view is still real marshy around there.

Also just north of that, along US Highway 98, is West Fort Island Trail. This is another curvey road that dead ends at the gulf about 10 miles from US 98.

Yes. I did the Sleepy Hollow run the other day. Really nice. Felt like I was in Carolina again.
