For those that are thinking of adding sigpics to their posts:

Sigpics need to be jpg's for best effect.

They should not exceed 450 pixels wide, and in consideration of folks who use dial up connections to access the clinic, they should not be larger than 50 KB in filesize.

We are looking for a reasonable place on the internet for folks to resize their pics, if anyone knows of a place, please post the location in this thread.

You will need to upload your appropriately sized sigpic to a webserver somewhere. This can be your personal webspace allocated to you by your isp if you have that available. We suggest you try accessing it all by itself to be sure it can be loaded that way. The address to your pic should be some thing like this - http://yourdomain.com/yoursiggpic.jpg . Be sure the last thing on the address is ".jpg", ".gif", or ".png". Anything else won't work.

Once you have your sig uploaded to your webspace, try loading it into your brower by typing its address into your browser's search or address bar. You should see a page that has nothing in it (no text unless it is IN your sig) except your sig in the upper left hand corner.

After testing your sig, log into the clinic and come here into the forum. At the top of the page, just below our Logo in the header, you will see a small link to "My Forum Settings". Click there to get into your personal settings for the forum. From there pick the "Forum Settings Info", then you will see a rectangle near the bottom that is labeled "signature".

It is limited to 300 characters, but that should be more than enough to build a reasonable sig for your posts. You can type any text you want in there, and add your sigpic. It will automatically be added to every post you create in the forum.

To add your sig, start by clicking on the "Img" button located above the signature field. This will add two bracketed commands that will tell the forum software that an image is in between them. In between the two brackets put the full address to your picture (ie: start with http://) for example http://yourdomain.com/picture.jpg. Inside the bracket you can also add a size parameter. You should set this to equal the width (in pixels) of your sigpic. for example I use "size=450" for mine (no quotes, I just put them here to separate the part I want you to see).

You can also add a link to your website (if you want to) by using the same methodology and the "URL" button. Again be sure to use a complete address that starts with "http://". This will create a clickable link folks can use to access your website.

Be sure to save your work before leaving the "Forum Settings" screen.

This will create a sig field that will automatically be added to all of your posts. It will also be added to any existing posts that precede your creation of your signature.

Here is an example of correct sigpic code:
Code:

[img]http://yourdomain.com/yoursigpic.jpg[/img]

or if you need to resize your pic (resizing to 450 pixels wide):
Code:

[img size=450]http://yourdomain.com/yourtoobigsig.jpg[/img]

If you edit it at some point, all your posts (again, even ones that existed before the edit) will be changed to the edited version.

Please post any questions here.

Thanks Guys,

GRAM
