Did you have to trim anymore around the headlight.
Makcap, you did a PERFECT job of trimming the outter. I haven't had to do a thing with it. All my work was messing with the inner. I bought a new inner and was quite shaken cutting up a brand new perfectly good inner fairing, but as they say, no pain, no gain!

Java, you are right about the whole seeing the front wheel thing. The more I sit on the bike, the more comfortable I'm getting with it.

Wish I would have know could have gotten you an inner about 75.00 Robert usually has one or can get one. I would plug the switch and move it up by the hi beam just a thought. The garage door opner post is a great post also if you moving the switch.

Looks good so far keep on keeping on

Thanks for the tips and I'll check-out the garage door opener post. I had a friend who works for a local MC shop get me a new 2009 inner for $80, so I wasn't too far off your friend Robert's price. My goal it to get this thing done for around $500. I think its do-able.

Looking good.....wish we could get guage pakages for the inner fairing...I think thats part of the appeal i have for the HD...i like all ghe guages and gizmos....but then i like my plain ole permoux fairing too.
I put my windshield back on again last fall and it was wierd....it stayed on a day as i was used to and liked the fairing on much better.
I don't think you'll go back once you get it on and ride with it. besides, i think it really enhances the look of the bike.....jmho

Dakota makes replacement gauges for Harley complete set. I like four speakers up front sounds like a symphony and the exhaust is the cannon.

I don't have any tunes in my fairing, but i do have the radio box and cut outs for the speakers if i want to put them in. I don't miss not having the radio, it gives me a chance to look around and enjoy the sceanery a bit more without the tunes. i've come close to putting a radio in, but for three seasons have done without.

thanks for the info on the replacement guages. i might look into putting some in.

I finished up the mounting of the fairing and took it for a test ride today. It did pretty well and I feel more comfortable with its size, but I noticed a slight movement (a few milimeters) of the top of the fairing at high speeds. Is this normal?

Next step are the gauges and stereo.....
