Put my home made glasspac's in and had to try em out. Couldn't ride so rolled it out and warmed it up in the drive. Adjusted PMS and when I rack the throttle it hits about 3800rpm on the tach and acts like it hits the limiter. Am I sucking the bowl dry or is the main to small? Should hit about 4700rpm right?
05 R* BAK, Barons PMS, HK K2 pipes with home made glasspac's (same as straight thru) just not as harsh. ported stock manifold, stock pilot,172.5 main, clip in 4th slot on BAK needle, PMS at about 2.75-3
The BAK docks call for 175 main and clip on the 5th slot and PMS at 3.5 for no baffles, 172.2 clip on the 5th slot and 3.5 turns for pipes with baffles. I know I can't really tell until I do a WOT but I think it should limit out higher than 3800 rpm with no load. IDEAS?

Post edited by: Curt, at: 2007/02/01 20:33

Probably cuz the motor was trying to come apart. I wouldn't put those kind of RPM's on it without a load. But todays my being wrong day so feel free to ignore this

The main is not too small and you could not determine if it was that way. In fact you are probably too rich on the main.

You should also not be able to empty the bowl.

Just wait until you can do the WOT.

My guess is that the air temp is too cold...the bike has to warm up real good before you can really crack the throttle. This seems to be the ongoing dilema lately. could be that it is truely winter out now, and people forget how our bikes react to the extreme cold temps. Not to mention, if anything, your pms may need adjusting for the cold temps...probably out 1/4 turn.

Finally got it RIGHT! When all else fails follow the enclosed instruction. Tried the 170 jet and that didn't cut it went back to the 172.5 with e clip in the 5th slot with washer, spacer, e clip, washer, spring and PMS 2 1/4 out. Fine tuned the PMS for a good idle and bang right on on the WOT, great throttle responce all thru the range no breather farts and no back fire. Now to see what the milage is. YAHOO I'm riding all this week gonna be around the 60's. NO SNOW!
