hearing protection 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Good morning Guys and Gals

Has any one tried these ear plugs called (Alpine Motosafe ear plugs) I found them on the internet just wondering if they really work. They have different filters to use for different driving situations. They suppose to take away the wind noise but let you here lower tones like somebody talking or a car blowing a horn. These sound really cool. I went on a seven hour ride Saturday went I got back home it took about four or five hours for my ears to quite ringing.

I can relate to that..and sorry to say, it gets worst the older you get.. They say the earplugs will slow the progression down tho... I use those little foam things quite often..

I have Tinitus, but I wear them any way. Don't like the air blowing in my ears and I have loud pipes so they do make a difference..

Hearing protection is important, I worked on Jets in the Navy for 21 years and they always enforced hearing protection. It's something everyone takes for granite, until it's gone, then it's too late there is nothing you can do to get it back. Even the best hearing aids are no match for Natural hearing. Loud pipes might save lives, but they can add to early hearing loss. Plugs help, plug and sound attenuators are better, avoiding LOUD noise is best!

I have been looking at Camos BTS 300H which are over the ear multifunction and are suppose to help in hearing protection. They are a bit on the high side but have an interphone range of 500 feet, stereo bluetooth cellphone bluetooth and gps voice depending how you set them up. I would most likely only use the interbike and stereo. Has anyone bought these or know someone who has. I tried them at a show and they seem to block loud noise but you can still hear what's around you.

I too have tinitus, pretty severe in my left ear been listening to the ring for 36 years now. Did most of it one afteroon with some large caliber hand guns and no protection. I have noticed that my hearing is getting worse as I age so I am looking for some sort of hearing protection that will protect what I have left from wind noise, but some how let me hear the cagers coming up on me, or the ambulance making the run through the intersection. Don't know anything about the Alpine Motosafe plugs, but if they work I will get some for me.

Even the cheapo roll and squeeze earplugs will let enough ambient noise in. You won't be totally deaf. I've used them for years. While in the Army, firing weapons, being around helicopters constantly, etc., and when I was flying ultralights and Cessnas, too.
