Quick how to:

To add a picture to your posts, you have two options. You can either upload the pic here to the clinic, or you can can add a forum image tag that will show a picture you have somewhere else (like a photo album you keep somewhere else).

To upload:
You can upload a picture from your computer to the forum by using the "Select Image file to attach" section just below the area where you type in your post in new post, or in a reply to a post. That section will not be there when you use the quick reply functionality.

PIC REQUIREMENTS:

The forum software has limits with regard to how large uploaded pictures can be.

1) Filesize cannot be larger than 50k.

2) Picture width cannot exceed 499 pixels.

If you need to resize your picture so that it will meet these requirements, you can go to www.shrinkpictures.com which is a website with image processing tools you can use for free.

To add an image tag

First get the full address to the picture you want to add a tag for. If it is in a photo album somewhere you can generally right click on the picture while viewing it in your album, and select the option that allows you to view it. This should take you to a page that has absolutely nothing on it except your picture. When you are on that page, the address in your brower's address bar will be the address of that picture. Copy that address for use in your post. Also right click on that picture again and select "properties". You will need to make note of the picture width for use in the forum.

One quick caveat, some picture albums will deny access to users who want to view a picture but are not logged into their service. I would suggest logging out of the service, then seeing if you can access the picture by putting the direct address into your browser. If you then see the page with nothing but your picture on it you should be good to go. Also, the address should end with one of the familiar file extensions used for graphics (like .jpg, .gif, .png etc...).

Then while creating the post you want to add the image tag to:

1) Click on the grey button at top labeled "Img". This will add the needed tags for the image, into which you are going to add the address for the image. That will look like this:

Code:

[img size=150][/img]

2) Add in the address to your image, inbetween the two bracketed tags. The one below is just an example, you will need to replace it with the correct address to your picture:

Code:

[img size=150]http://server.com/picture.jpg[/img]

3) Finally, you will need to adjust the size of your picture to be what you want it to be. This is the part of the tag that says "size=150". 150 is the forums default for picture width. If you don't change it, your picture will show up in the forum 150 pixels wide. Change this to be what you found when you looked at the properties for your picture (the true width). This should not be larger than about 450 pixels to preserve the forum layout. So if your pic is a little bigger, you can simply put 450 there. If it is a lot bigger, please resize the picture first so that it close to 450 pixels wide. Then change that part of the tag to match your picture's width:

Code:

[img size=450]http://server.com/picture.jpg[/img]
