Smell of gas and bad mpg 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Hey Fellas,

About a year ago I was getting about 34-35 mpg. So I took off the carb and adjusted the pms, from about 3 1/2 turns to 2 1/2 turns. My mileage went up to about 38-40 mpg, which I was content with. Now, the garage is smellin bad like gas, and I filled up yesterday, and I am getting about 35 mpg. Should I check the float level, or can my pms move any on its own? What do ya think? Thanks for any help,
Cody

Make sure your float or float needle aren't sticking. Check the needle and seat for any damage or crud that might be keeping it from seating all the way. The PMS can move by itself but I don't think that would cause a gas smell if the float and needle are doing their job. It wouldn't hurt to check your float level while your at it.
