Cold Turkey 12+ years ago. Went from 2 packs a day to none overnight. Never had one since. I do enjoy a cigar from time to time but even that has become rare.

Re:Quiting Smoking!!!! 3 Years, 2 Months ago
I smoked for a little over 20 years, then my wife and her Brother and her Dad all went in for accupuncture. That was a trip, but it really worked (at least for me). Not so good for everyone else. I think that you really need to want to quit. My kids really wanted me to quit and of course the price sucks and is only going to get worse "s-chip". And truth be known I wouldn't be riding my new Roadstar had I not quit. The money that I used to spend on smokes went to the bank for a new bike. I like the bike a lot better!! So good luck to everyone whose trying to quit you can do it!! It's so worth it!!

Well, I started this thread nearly 4 months ago. I am happy to say that I have been smoke free for over two months. Still find it hard at times, but don't nearly think of it like I used to. Thanks for all the replies in this thread. It has been a day to day process, and will continue to be!

Now that's unusual. From what I've seen its a million times harder when only one part of a couple quits smoking.

Just today, the tax on a pack of cigarettes jumped forty cents. That's it. I'm out... I'm down to my last pack, and I have some (recently) expired patches and some lozenges. I'm quitting. Smoking is out of phase with every other aspect of my life. It's time to leave these filthy, shitty, health-destroying bastards behind. Tomorrow afternoon or evening, I'll be smoking my final cigarette. May I never put another one of these filthy things in my mouth ever again.

Re:Quiting Smoking!!!! 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Thanks. I've tried before and fallen flat on my face. So many times...

This time, I really feel a sense of peace, balance, and "rightness," though. I'm turning forty in April. This will be a nice present to myself.

I've got some patches, some lozenges, and I may buy some Skoal Bandits to get me over the hump, but I dislike chewing tobacco, and don't see that it will last long, should I choose to go this route.

In any case, sickarettes and I are finished. A twenty-two year love/hate relationship doesn't die so easily, but... the most worthy opponent I've ever faced, is myself.
