Use a good oil, change it often. Stay away from over modifying the engine, seems to be the root of a lot of problems. Point her towards the open road, keep the rubber side down, get on her now and then, and enjoy. A lot of R&D went into these bikes, they'll put up with a lot and still run you a long, maintanance free life.
Great bikes, well built, your gonna love it...Good choice.

Hey rodie don't tell Musky but we have a Black Bike thread going here HA HA! 006 welcome like t-bone and Musky said it is a great bike and I have had Harley and Victory riders tell me that it is better than theirs. They love to run and like they said it hates to lugged so get on it. There is a site about break in and if I can find it I will send it to you. Don't baby it by any means. But you know that you will end up tinkering and adding stuff so get ready for that it is a natural fact.

Hey guys,

Welcome to the forum 006. You will notice that most threads always boil down to white bikes vs black bikes. (And sometime pink bikes ) I have been here a couple of months now and these guys know their stuff, and if they don't know something, they will help you or tell you where to go. Ride safe, and get a pic up.

Thanks, Roadie - It simply goes w/out saying that black is the best/most cared for color .. Heck, everybody knows that a speck of dust looks far worse on black than any other color, so by default, black bikes are much cleaner. Which of course, makes them slice through the air more efficiently, thus making them faster. Case closed ..

Re:My 1st star 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Congratulations on the Road Star. Many of the people on this site have been riding a long time and have owned, or ridden nearly every make of motorcycle available. I have owned every Japanese badge and can say without a doubt this is the best overall motorcycle I have ever owned. Quality, fit, finish, and performance are in MHO unparalleled. While I only have 6,500 miles on my scooter, it is nearly trouble free. I have an intemitent problem with what appears to be percolation of the gas in the carb, and have seen this on other R*. A very minor inconvenience at worst.

As you read this site and the Delphi Road Star Riders Forum you will see testimonials from many R* owners with very high mileage scooters that have never had anything other than gas, oil, tires and brake pads. As many have said she likes to be ridden on the hard side and will lug, but she does not like it so keep her in the happy part of the power band and enjoy.

Shiny side up, rubber side down, nose between the ditches...
