Old guy, but new to you 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi,
I just became the owner of a 2005 Roadstar Silverado. This sweetheart has been hiding in a garage for 2-1/2 years. she only has 1769 miles on her, but still came with some problems. Mainly, the gasoline has gummed up the carb. Which I disasembled and cleaned. When I put everything back together I find that the engine will only run at idle to about half throttle, then she cuts out and dies with the slightes increase of throttle. Wonder what I did wrong or what I didn't do that I shouod have?

Doesn't sound fatal.. Try putting an ounce of Sea Foam in the gas and running it at idle till it gets into the carb, then shut it off and let it sit over night.
The needle may be hanging up on you if you took the top of the carb off and didn't get the main needle back in the hole it will act that way.

Did you drain and clean the tank and put in fresh gas? New plugs? Check the fuel filters? Use some cleaner on the float and float needle so they move freely and don't stick? You should also check your float level too. You may have knocked it out of adjustment while working on the carb. You could try putting as healthy dose of of Seafoam or some other cleaner in the gas and running the bike to get things cleaned out. There might still be gum in small passages. You could also try spraying it directly in the carb if you can get the RPMs up high enough to keep the bike running while you do it. Here's a link to the service manuals if you don't have one - Manual

Welcome ... your already on your way with tips from RSC ... you'll be able to accomplish just about anything with the help here... I rescued my ride from a year long nap outside under a blue tarp. The elbow grease you used now will pay off in the long run...

Welcome to the forum friend. I am one of those that really benifits from this board cuz I don't know jack. You have come to the right place. Sounds like your new bike is hardly broke in yet. There are some real gearheads on this forum, for example the ones that have already posted to help you. I read everything.

shand101! Here's the article I used to adjust my floats. The pics tell it all. This worked better than anything else I could find. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
