Yes the same here you really don't realize just how good you ARE NOT until it is put to a real test. The course is a stress type situation but and once you learn to relax turn you head and look ahead do you do well and have fun. It is hard to start going into a tight turn and be looking ahead at the exit point that you WILL be coming out of while the bike is still going straight forward. Once you start looking way ahead then it becomes a lot easier Kind of freaks ya out the first time ya do it.

That is still something I fight, the temptation to look at other things while I am riding. They say that people ride into cars because they are looking at the fool that pulled out in front of them instead of their escape route. I think there is a lot to that. The bike goes where we look as if magic.
I have really been working on my panic riding, stopping, swerving and such.
I need a lot of work to be really good and truth be know, I am probably getting to old to be REALLY good.
But that stuff will certainly keep you alive and I guess that's what counts.

Very true my friend but I am not ready to go to a Trike yet. I'll just keep working on my skills. I did notice on the one hand weave that my arm strength isn't what it used to be. I was the smallest of all the riders and am only 170 lbs soaking wet. That not a lot of weight to trow around for control I have to let the bike do the work.

Hey Curt, we are all headed for the trike... some will just get there sooner than others, isn't the end of the road. You got lots of good miles and many tire changes in front of you god willing...

Glad you didn't get hurt. A fella once told me that if you think you know it all about riding then you better sell the bike before you hurt your-self. I've always tried to remember that when I get a little too sure of myself.

Yes I try and keep that in mind all the time. The idots on the crotch rockets make me realize that all the time. Saw two the other day doing wheelies in rush hour traffic. One was holding traffic back while the other ahead was doing the wheelie. Man did I want to kick his butt over so bad.

Took the Advanced last year. I was hoping that it was more advanced than it was. As another poster said, it's some of the same skills that are taught in the basic course, but on your bike. The pace of the training is a bit more rapid. If you've been riding a while you should have no trouble with most of it. However even seasoned riders find the "box" can be a challenge if they haven't mastered slow ride techniques. I think they should spend time teaching slow ride skills, but for our class it wasn't part of the course.

If you want to get slow ride skills honed to a razor point Ride Like a Pro is the way to go. It's money WELL spent.

I just finished the three day MSF basic RiderCourse this weekend. I was wore out after two full days of riding the course. Plan on taking the advanced course later this year. Cost $250 for the basic three day course and $100 for the one day advanced course here in Georgia.

After I finished, I felt like it was money well spent. Already had my motorcyle license but since I work on a military installation, successful completion of a MSF RiderCourse is required before you can ride your bike to work.

Good tip I learned. Cover your crash bars with foam pipe insulation and some duct tape before taking the advanced class and this will help keep from scratching them up.

I took the course way up here in Canada and it cost me $400, but it comes with your m2 (damb graduated licensing system we have), and it was a pretty easy course for anyone who has been riding for awhile.

Atleast you pay to used their little 125cc choppers they have so you don't smash up yours . I got perfect on my test without any trouble, it was more informative on not what to do with all the people who have never even touched a bike before, and can't even use a clutch .

Oh and i would recommend not doing it in the middle of the summer, 100+ degrees on a parking lot all day is not fun.

Man I can't believe they charge that much for the course in other states! Like I said its free here in Pa if your a resident. They even provide the bikes to ride on in the basic course. If you pass the Basic riding skills, they will stamp your permit and you will now have a full fledged license for riding Motorcycle.

Passing either course here in PA will get you your license.
And yes, RIDE LIKE A PRO is one of the best riding videos I have come across, I hear there are some other good ones out there too. But lets face it, if you can master the skills in RIDE LIKE A PRO your going to be better than 99% of the riders out there.
