Re:MPG Woes 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Thanks for all of the input!

My big concern is NOT the 33 mpg. Like everyone else, it's a helluva lot better than my Cherokee.

I'm concerned that something has changed and I want to make sure that I'm not doing any damage. Plus, I'm headed from Charlotte to St. Aug in April and want make sure everything's right before I hit the road.

I'm not much for messing with carbs, I'll leave that to the professionals.

I didn't even know there was a fuel filter, but should have assumed there was. Where is it and how do you replace it. (I didn't see anything in the tech articles about it.)

I certainly didn't know there was any pollution crap on there. I'd definately like to get that off!

I was able to pretty regularly through the winter, so I don't think fule stabilization/varnish would be the problem.

Thanks, again. I guess I'll poke around for a vacuum hose, first.

The fuel filter is under the chrome plastic cover under you tank on the left side between the jugs. remove 2 screws on the bottom of the plastic piece and that will allow you to remove it.

Your fuel pump is under that plastic piece and the fuel filter sits right on top of the fuel pump.

Re:MPG Woes 3 Years, 1 Month ago
So, I ended up going to my local dealer and feel like they just don't give a $#!+.

Anyway, I got about 31 mpg on the trip. At the advice of a firend I did run a few bottles of Techron through and that seemed to help a little.

When I got back, I wrote a long email to the dealer and now they want me to bring the R* in and run some Ring Free through it.

Just wondering if there's much difference between Techron, Seafoam (the forum favorite!!!!) and tis Ring Free stuff.

Thanks for all of your knowledge!!!

The most difference is going to be the price because it says "Yama Something" on the can.

How's your air filter look? My mileage was down (only by 2 or 3 a gallon), I saw my OEM filter was falling apart so I put on a K&N and that brought my mileage back up.

Good eye doc, I just noticed he had big pipes on there after you mentioned that. That could be the problem right there, especially if they want to sell him something else...

But it looks like the stock air cleaner from the picture...

Aftermarket pipes with stock aircleaner and rejetted by dealer is usually not a good combo.
