I would have to ask the dealer what they use, I have 3 years of oil changes coming from them, so until that's done, I won't know, and then I will switch to syn.

I would guess the Yamaha dealer used Yamaha dino with a yammi oil filter...Coug

no no im sayin anything, i meant i dont wanna start a debate on brand, oil weight, or synthetic vs dino... i just wanna make a solid list of non MC specific oils people run because i think itd be nice to save money and to have it all in one thread instead of in 160 other oil threads hah

In 3 bikes in 25 years I haven't used anything but Castrol GTX 20W50 and have never had a single oil-related problem. That's why I can't see switching to and paying the much higher price for synthetic oil.

who has run car oil in their bike with great success

What is yer definition of great success??? it turned over a few times without self distructing..which to some is a great success or has run 100,000 miles with out a slipping clutch or any need to replace a single part??? anything less would be a failure to others...

haha id say that if it kept your motor cool, didnt break your bank, and didnt destroy your clutch that would be pretty dang successful

Re:oil ---- dont shoot me 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I used Castrol 20-50 full synthetic for the 3 years I've owned my 2001 R*. Just had the top end rebuilt and am running Castrol 10w40 regular, during the break in period... after another 1200 or so miles, I will probably switch back to Castrol 20-50 full syn.. That's my 2cents
