Chilhowee lever fringe 3 Years, 1 Month ago
This will only be of interest to people who have bought lever fringe from Chilhowee only to find out it doesn't fit the levers because it's too big (wide)and can't be laced on because it over laps a lot.

I've had these laying around and today got one of those thoughts that sneak up on me once in a while. I didn't want to cut them to fit because I would lose like a third of the fringe. But the laces they give you for them are about 3 feet long. So I tried wrapping the laces around the lever instead of lacing it through the holes. The fringe body overlaps under the laces but you can't tell because it does it in the hollow on the back of the lever. Also the end of the lace left over kinda blends right into the rest of the fringe so I just left it hanging there. Matter of taste I'm sure but I think it turned out ok.

If I did this right you should be able to click on the thumbnails. No guarantees though.

And this one just to prove white bikes are fast sitting still. See the fringe blowing back?

They look great Musky! I called Chilhowee a while back about some lever fringe and they said they didn't have a pattern for the Roadstar levers. I thought about ordering for a 1100 and hoped they fit. Oh, your bike is pretty fast sitting there but look at my profile pic and look at my lever fringe, you will see an insanely fast BLACK bike.

I like the look of fringes, and would like to do this myself, but how hard do they slap against your arms when you're riding without a jacket? Which I actually do pretty often ...

Thanks. They used to list the Roadie. That's how I ended up with these.

I haven't done any riding without a jacket yet but it doesn't seem like they are hitting my arm at all.

Just pretend it's date night and your girlfriend has broken out the whips. It might sting a little but you'll enjoy every minute of it.

Actually, no... they don't come back far enough to hit your arms. At least mine don't.

Chilhowee did have a pattern for the Roadstar at one time. Actually, they had 2! My son bought a set of the fringed lever covers for his `05 Midnight Roadstar, and they sent him the wrong covers. Like Musky, they were too wide. They sent him another set which fit the levers on his bike.

Try Fox Creek Leather, they have stainless steel eyelets and fit perfect on the R*. Here is another trick, place a strip of foam rubber along the lever before putting on the leather covers. Makes for a soft grip and better fit for some leather covers.

Have never had a set of Chilhowee. I bought a set from www.jafrum.com along with a bunch of other stuff. Thought I would give them a try. Fit was great! Under $15 for the 4 piece set. On for 1 1/2 years now with no issues.

The fringes are quite long...and yes they do slap my arms but are not really anoying. I have 12" apes now...never had that problem with the standard bars. I guess I could cut them down if I wanted to eliminate it.
