Hi, I'm Dan and live in the Okanagan Valley in BC, Canada. I've been a member here at the clinic for quite a while, but haven't posted in the forums. The clinic has come in quite handy for me, particularly when re-jetting my carb last summer when I installed my MaxFlo (first time in my life working on a carb), and this winter when I ported my manifold. Very clear, detailed instructions, for which I am eternally grateful.
I'm married with one teenage son who is a member of a heavy-metal rock band (he's practicing in the room next to me as I'm writing this so my concentration is having difficulties). I ride an '03 Silverado that I purchased two years ago, and have been riding since 1990. Before my Roadie I've had all my servicing done at the dealer with the exception of oil & plugs. This site and the RoadStarRiders forum have changed all that. I doubt my bike will ever see the insides of a dealership again, unless I trade it in some time in the distant future.
Money is tight for me (aforementioned family plus bike payments and a large mortgage), so most of the mods I've done have been free or very cheap. I'll get new pipes one day but for now I'm content with them at stage 3. It's great to have a community of similar-interest people to share tips & tricks. Thanks.

Hi,
My name is Curt Webb.. I live about 30 mi w of Phila. Pa. I bought a 02 silverao with 2600 mi on it in aug 2004. Great bike. I have to thank all who have helped with the tech tips on this site. Over the winter I relocated the fuel pump (Ken Sexton) installed BAK and rejetted (Gram and many others) made my bags quick disconnect (Dave McDougall) lowered it fat bike method and will be picking up red rear t/s lenses this Sat after switching to 1157 sockets (Mr. Tidy's Tech Tips) ported the intake (Buck) and can't wait for more good riding weather. I've put on a 100 or so miles after all the changes with no problems.
I am 51 yrs old single and work as a school custodian hence the name. Hope all are well and wish ya good riding.
Thanks Again,
Curt

Hi Dan,
I'm a couple or three hours south of you, in Cashmere, Wa. I ride an '01 Midnight. Every year on Memorial Day Weekend, we (The Norwestars) meet up in Ossooyous (sp) for 3 or 4 days of good times. Check out www.norwestars.org if you haven't already.
This is a great forum also. My company blocked my access to the delphi forums so I'm on here just about every day at lunch time.

Howdie,
My name is Roch, which is french and pronounced "rock". Most people say it suits me as I'm 6'0", 220lbs. My friends call me Rocky and I play bass. I've been lurking around the RSR forum for a couple years under RockyBass, so I kept the same alias for the Clinic. I'm 34 and live just outside Ottawa (Canada) with my wife and 2 daughters age 2 and 4.5. By day I'm an accountant with the federal government, but on weekends, I've been playing in bands for the last 15 years. It's a hobby, but a busy one as I've played between 75-103 nights per year for the last 7 years. I just quit the band a few weeks ago so I would have more time to spend with the family, and riding the bike.
My first bike was a XR75 which my dad bought me when I was 10. At 17, I bought my first street bike (V30 Magna) from a friend who stopped riding. I sold the bike after a few years and it wasn't until 2001 that I got back into it. I bought my brother-in-law's '84 Gold Wing and took it to Americade. I spent a day on my buddy's Nomad and decided I needed a cruiser. When I got back home, I found a great deal on a new 2001 Roadstar. We were in June 2002 and the '03s were coming out. The dealer wanted rid of the 2001.
The first year, I added the following:
Roadstar windshield, wind whippers, clever lever, Bub Big Willys, Ledrie saddle bags, floorboard extensions, removed the AIS, front fender rear tip, and rear fender tip.
In 2003, I didn't do much as I build a house all summer (EVERY WEEKEND!!!)
This year... I went nuts!
Looney seat, passing lights, J&K Starline tombstone taillight, Maxflo, ported the manifold, R1 calipers (chromed) - single front and rear, stainless lines (brake, throttle, clutch), front of front fender tip, Baron V98 cam cover, Radius drag bars (internal wiring) with ISO grips, chrome rear pulley, HK Xccelerators, Ray's extended dog bones and progressive spring. I also got a NXT beanie and Wiley X glasses and am waiting on a solo rack & pillion.
I'm already planning next year's mods... custom paint job, 6* rake, forward controls, maybe wheels. Now if it could stop snowing, maybe I could get it out for a ride!!!!
Thanks for hosting this Gram. You guys ROCK!

Hi, Aceman. Where's Cashmere? I make it down through Washington every year or so, usually down Hwy 97 for a bit before heading over to the Oregon coast. I know about the Osoyoos run, but that weekend is always too busy at work for me to attend. I may be changing jobs in the next month, and if so I'll be able to attend this year. See you there if I can make it.

Hi again Dan,
Cashmere is about 15 miles west of Wenatchee on Highway 2, on the way towards Seattle. Good luck on the job situation. I'd like to find one that pays me to ride. Maybe we'll hook up one of these days.

OK Old Man! Why don't you come over and show me your bike this weekend? I think the weather man is calling for only a couple more inches of white stuff. I'd say come over tonight, but I'm getting old and am hungover from last night. It was our hockey playoffs and we got a bit silly after the games.
I thought of taking karma away from you for busting my chops all week, but decided that would be petty, so I'll send you some instead!
Rocky

Sara and I (my name is David) are reasonably fit, middle-aged people. Sara is on the young side of middle age, and I am on the middle side, the Age of Colonoscopy. We actually enjoy walking downhill and uphill with heavy backpacks (preferably in the Grand Canyon). Sara is beautiful, smooth, outgoing, female and American: I am rough, hairy, quiet, male and Australian. It’s a mixed marriage.
I have ridden motorcycles since 1969. In Sydney, Australia, where I lived until 1986, I never owned a car, I rode motorcycles year-round. Sydney’s winters are like California’s so it wasn’t too bad. My mother tried to get me to give up motorcycles by giving me a car, knowing I couldn’t afford both. It didn’t work, I gave the car to my brother.
In 1974, while visiting USA on a program where I worked as a camp counselor, I saw Sara. Thirty-one years later, and we’ve been married for 18 years and living in Phoenix, Arizona and Belleville, Illinois.
Our son Kyle is 27, self-sufficient now. He’s a U of I graduate in Civil Engineering, living in Chicago, earns more than both of us. He has no interest whatsoever in camping or motorcycling.
Last year, Sara leant to ride at the local Junior College. Shoulda done it years ago! It’s much more comfortable up front and you can see more! Not to mention fun!
My motorcycles (I think this is all of them):
1969 Honda CL90 – 100 mpg, and gas was 40 cents per gallon!
Triumph Tiger 500 – ooohh! How big and powerful!
1942 Harley WLA – now I’m really cool! Except on bumpy roads.
Triumph Trophy 650 – bigger gas tank than the Harley, and you can buy oil at gas stations.
Norton Commando 750 – boy racer! Except it handled like a limp noodle. Scary!
Yamaha XS650 – cheap, fast enough, and reliable. First Yamaha impression is a good one.
Yamaha XV 1000 – back to big V-twins, where my heart is. Another good Yammy.
1984 Harley FXWG - brand new in Sydney. Sold it to move to USA and Sara.
Harley XLCH Sportster – interesting.
1975 Harley “custom” Wide Glide – dripping with character and oil. I still have it.
Yamaha XV 1000 (the 2nd) – on a visit back Down Under, we rode around Australia, 13,000 miles in 3 months! Wow!
2005 Yamaha Road Star – my last bike? Love it so far.
Sara’s motorcycles:
Honda 250 Rebel
Honda 750 Shadow
Some advice for Americans visiting Australia:
Don’t try to say “G’day”, you can’t do it.
If an Aussie asks, “Are you a Septic?”, the correct answer is, “Yes, and proud of it!”
Don’t say that you “root” for the football team, unless you mean that you have sex with the football team.
If you go into a store and ask to buy a “rubber”, you will get an eraser.
Don’t ask to buy a “fanny pack”, unless you’re at a Gynecologist’s. If you want a small pouch to wear on your belt, it’s a “bum bag”.
No, you don’t have to eat vegemite to enter the country.
G’day, pleased to meet you,
Shep
