2008 Silverado Exhaust 3 Years, 1 Month ago
|
|
I have an '08 Silverado and would like to keep the "stock" look of the exhaust, but give it a little bit louder tone. Read the 1-3 Staging Tips for carb models, but wondered the specifics for injected engines. Heard Power Commander installation is necessary. Any help?

Road_Hawg did the stage 3 mod on his '08 & I don't think he changed anything. The computer compensates for the changes automatically. Search the forum for his posts on the subject.

Yeah no problem with the EFI. I put on aftermarket pipes and a BAK on my '08 and the computer just senses it and adjusts itself. Sweet!

Same thing here. I have an 08 R* and just put new pipes on and runs better than before!

Finished the Stage 1 mod, and ended up with 8 hole per pipe. SOunds better and seems to have better accelleration at the higher end. Friend of mine also has an 08 R* and after hearing mine, he did the same. The MPG seemed to get worse right after the mod, but after a longer run today, the computer seems to have compensated for the extra airflow. Of course, now I'm wondering about Stage 3....think I'll install a K&N or Baron BAK first, see where that takes me. Thanx for the posts and I'll get some/a pic uploaded soon.

I haven't noticed any real difference in MPG, the pipes I put on (Speedstar Dragster longs) and they have the O2 sensor mounts. I highly recommend keeping the O2 sensors intact as this is a large part of the CPU adjusting the mixture correctly. Even after the BAK installation the CPU adjusted itself to the new setup in a matter of seconds. Just start it up. Let it run for about 30 seconds. Turn it off and when you restart it is all adjusted and ready to ride. Don't forget to disable the AIS unless you like the kaboom sound out the tail pipes. I didn't remove the AIS due to warranty problems but I disabled it by cutting the AIS hoses behind the rectifier. Plugging them with plugs bought from Lowe's, and taping them back together, to look stock to casual inspection. I love the way the bike runs. Seems to have alot more torque and the cagers don't ride in your right side blind spot!
