Now that our trip is done I'd like to re-install the Cobra 2-1 system. However, with the Classic towbar fitted (relying on the OEM exhaust rear mount bracket) and the fact the Cobra 2-1 system has a modified bracket....does anyone know of an easy mod that will allow be to fit the Cobra system still utilising the Yami OEM exhaust mount???

I'm thinking at the moment that I have to modify the Yami mount

Don't know what it looks like but could you not keep the OEM mount and make a bracket to tie the Cobras to the OEM mount?

Thanks Doc. Yes, I think that's going to be the best option. The replacement mount that came with the Cobra system wouldn't be able to support the towbar very well.

Re:2-1 exhaust 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I need some help. I want to install Vance & Hines Pro Pipe on my 05 Road Star 1700, when my local dealer ordered them we got a pipe for a Warrior. When we called V & H to find out why they explained because we indicated 1700 motor they thought we meant a Warrior. When we wxplained it was for a Road Star they transferred us to the Tech line where we were told that because the Pro Pipe is for a 1600
and that the 1700 has a taller head we would be " stretching " the pipe which would make it prone to
cracking. I see that several members here have installed this system on their bikes and been happy I'm
confused. Any advise would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Rick

the regular V and H pro Pipe fits the 1700 just fine. Been running it for a couple years.

Don't listen to the people who do their bike work with software. Listen to the people who work on the actual bike. That's always served me well anywho. I guess V&H is having trouble separating the 1700 Warrior from the 1700 Roadie. The Warrior does have taller heads.

Speaking for myself, I bought a used Pro pipe that was on a 1600 and slapped it right on my 1700. Didn't have to stretch or pry at all.

Don't know why V&H doesn't just sell it for both 16-1700. I know a bunch of folks with it on their 1700's with tons of miles , and zero issues. BB
