I wrote the article on the vacuum pump replacement in the Tech Tips section:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Where do we order the pump from? can't do it on Micuni website.

I'm unclear on how to connect the pump to the nemisis with JB weld.

I ordered my pump from the Yamaha dealer. The pumps are quite common as they are also used in snowmobiles. Tough luck if you live where there's no snow.

You can go here >>>> http://www.heeters.com/snbpa.shtml#snb-fuelpumps to get your pump, or check on the internet for a place closer to you. I have one like the Mikuni #DF44-211-D. The dealer said they were BO'd so he ordered one from Kimpax. I belive some guys are using the next larger size, the one with 2 outlets, and just plug one outlet.

The pump has a vacuum inlet on one of the faces. In my case I drilled a hole in the Nemisis just a little smaller than the inlet and then slightly sanded the bulging part of the inlet until it could be forced (by hand) into the hole. I then used JB Weld to make sure it 'stayed put'.

IMPORTANT .... make sure you replace the 4 screws on the manifold with bolts as once it is attached to the manifold it will be very difficult to remove the screws if (when) the diaphragm needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps

I live in the White Mtns of NH can't walk outside without tripping on a sled.

I see the screws on the pump (the ones that need to be replaced). The internal rubber parts, can they cook? is that why we want to replace the screws to open the vacuum pump? doen't sound like they wear out too quick.

Wow, the pump you installed is half the size of the one in the article yours is 14 ltrs/hour vrs. 31 ltrs/hour thats why you mentioned its was back ordered? and it doesn't sound like the 31 L/PH is needed. Is the vacuum pump expensive?

I really hate to take off that dam manifold again and have to re-seal it. I think I can drill a hole with rags and vasaline stuffed inside it, after all the manifold is aluminum if a small piece did enter.

please excuse all the questions I need to be sure and have confidence in myself. Thanks

No problem with questions; I'll help as much as I can.

Yes, if you're in NH then you should be able to get the pump locally. BTW, I north of you in Ontario.

I've had the pump in that location for a while and I'm sure it has cooked on occasion but I've not yet had a problem. The pump does get a 'reasonable' amount of air flow around it in that location (except when you're not moving )

I didn't replace my screws and I'm now kicking myself as I realized after I mounted it that it will be difficult to remove them if the pump goes.

I don't know how long they last. I've only heard of one being replaced; I believe it was Gram (not sure).

"the pump you installed is half the size of the one in the article" Unsure to what you are refering. I did install the small one and that's the one in the Tech Tips. I think the larger one should be used if the vacuum line from the pump to the manifold is 'long' (don't ask me how long ) as the vacuum pulse weakens as the line increases.

The pump's not expensive .... Heeters wants $25 USD. Much less than the stock one.

I don't know if you can drill the manifold with it on the bike as the backbone may be in the way. The rags and vasaline would definitely work if you can reach the top of the manifold. Probably vacuuming the outside as you're drilling would also help.

Ontario bout 5 or 6 hours? Still have family in Quebec most have migrated here some time ago. Small world ya know!

$25 bucks isn't bad compared to $100 stock one. Went to the Macunni website and looked at the vacuum model numbers that's where I seen the liters per minute and could view the types of pumps.

Never thought twice about the backbone being in the way. Looks like I'll be forced to take it off when the time comes.

Thanks again Doc I think I'm good until I collect all the parts and install and that is a nice ride ya fixed up.
