What do you have for a pull veh? U-Haul won't rent an enclosed unless your tow veh is one on the approved list for the trailer. Now IMO I like the enclosed. I used one to pick up my bike, Towed it about 950 mi's round trip I did check and pack the wheel bearings before I left town (didn't trust U-Haul).It pulled good and didn't have any problems. If I had to haul another I would do the same.

Midsize V-6 truck with a class 3 receiver, 4000 Lb towing capacity. Problem is solved. My brother has a 16 foot tandem axle enclosed cargo ramp trailer set up for bikes on the inside. Overkill I know, but he said it was a Featherlite and pulls easy. He would not hear of me trying to pay him for using it. He said to count on it it as a done deal. Cost = $0.00.

Mate, you've got to be happy with that

Yeah, and not only that, but 2 other of my local brothers are going, and we will be able to put all the scoots in one trailer now. Sweet.

I just thought of something. Now that we will be putting all bikes in one trailer, there will be no need to take multiple tow vehicles. I have a full size conversion van complete with flat screen TV and captains recliners, and smoked picture windows that would pull that trailer like it wasn't there and have plenty of room and comfort for others that do not need to drive their vehicles. This just keeps getting better and better. I went from trying to decide which junky U-Haul trailer to choose, to cruising down the highway with a decked out first class rig with all bikes tucked nicely inside a closed trailer.

I've used the 5X9 trailer with the ramp from U-haul and it worked great with a smooth ride that's what i would recommend

1300 might seem like a long distance but for those trailers thats nothing... U-haul says max speed 45 mph anyway so your not going to drive that slow...

I used one of those folding trailers you get from the autoparts stores or Walmart that you put together and they have little 12" tires, to haul up north with the family we can't all fit on the bike.
... most important is to get it tied down good.. that front suspension compressed....
I took a enclosed trailer to florida and all it did was catch the wind, would have been just as well off with the little POS trailer.. we have dragged it everywhere with no trouble. check all the tires and ride on..

good luck with you choices.

Thanks for everyone's input, I really appreciate it. Turns out my brother has a 16' Featherlite trailer he is going to let me borrow. Although I will need to change my tow vehicle from my pickup to my full size conversion van. Probably better for a trip anyway, my brothers will be able to ride with me now instead of taking the other truck and pulling their bikes as originally planned. I found some pics of a 16' Featherlite Trailer. I guess it will be comparable to this. I have estimated the GVW of the trailer to be about 4300 Lbs max with just the 3 scoots on the trailer. Actually about 4200 Lbs, but I like to give myself some margin. The tow hitch on my van is rated for 10000 Lbs, so I should be good.
