a question on my bak 3 Years, 1 Month ago
i dug into my bak today to see why i had oil in it.i noticed at the very bottom that there is a drain hole with a nipple for a hose on the carburator side.well there isn't a hose attached.while cleaning up and getting a better look at the carb i noticed a very small 1/8" diameter tube coming out of the bottom of the carb about a 1/2" down and then it bends at 90* to the ais side of the bike ( or where it was,it has been removed).well there isn't any hose on it either(looks like a vacuum line of sorts).this is the first time i really got into the bike since the recall.am i missing drain lines or vacuum lines? spudwrench

The fitting on the BAK is where the Crankcase vent hose would hook up if you wanted to hook it up. I plugged my BAK with a 1/4 inch bolt and some hi temp silicone. I suppose you could find a vacuum cap to fit it too. Is the tube coming out the bottom of the carb brass and on the float bowl? If it is that's the float bowl drain and nothing gets hooked up to it.

I'm thinking the nipple off the BAK is for draining oil/water out of the filter box. You could run a hose down to the ground for that. The tube from the carb sounds like the drain tube for emptying the bowl of fuel. Just a guess.

Normally the crankcase vent hose plugs into the back of the BAK. On the inside of the BAK the small hose connects to the same fitting and it's then routed up to the carb throat.

This way the air entering the carb throat 'sucks' the crankcase blowby through the engine instead of it dripping down into the bottom inside of the BAK.

If the crankcase hose is already re routed you won't get any oil on your motor.

A question that I should have asked before. Do you have an actual BAK
(Barons Big Air Kit)or just an aftermarket air kit. People call any aftermarket air kit a BAK but it ain't so.
