had a friend of mine paint mine and we used ppg paint.base coat clear coat.bout four coats of clear then wet sanded the orange peel out and then polished the wetsand marks out with wizards final cut polish.it it dries for some time it will be harder to wetsand the orangepeel so you can use 1500 grit instead of 2000.or use wizards turbo cut with a whool pad and it will cut fast so dont stop the polisher and dont go to fast with the rmps or you will burn through the clear.i helped him hold the small parts and its a good idea to have help cuz the last thing you want is your new paint flying across the shop.hope this helps.

jacker:

Use a good primer. I use Duplicolor @ $20.00 per quart. Goes on almost like a gel coat.

I just finished painting my other set and I'm 100% sold on House of Kolor for not only paint, but for their clear coat. They include a superior catalyst/hardener that can be polished the next day.

Ultrastar is exactly right (as usual). http://www.tcpglobal.com/hokpaint/ is the best place around and has an Ebay store for everything that you'd need.

It's probably $70.00 for 1.5 qt. of paint (reduced). 1 gallon of clear ($125.00+-) which includes reducer and catalyst. You should be able to paint a bike for $250.00 in supplies. The rest is labor... :0)

No, I'm not telling you guys what color...

Hope that helps ya.

Sounds like this may be your first paint job ???

If it is then the best advice I can give is ....

Read everything you can on the net

Practice on a panel before spraying your tins.

Don't do candy ... it's very difficult to do properly without a lot of practice.

I would say don't start on your tins. Practice a bunch first on something else. You need to get the feel for doing curved and vertical surfaces without buildup and / or runs.
