Musky whats going on some one scratch your bike ,and you didn't have the right color to fix it.
I rode Hogs for over 30 years, i had flat head 80's knuckles ,pans ,shovels the dreaded evo the 90 heritage with the weak cases, and the dreaded 01 lowrider, Hd got to full of itself and raised there prices up for a bike that is no better or worse than the rice burners, i bought a roadie for 2 reasons 1) is that at my size i dwarf the Harley, (i think they are making them smaller now)( 2 the value for the buck, i have twice the bike for half the price, case in point , a fully out fitted Raider with everything Yamaha has to offer is 2 thousand less than a Rocker that is bone stock with no options, and the raider has a bigger engine, and right before i bought my roadie i had bought a used road king with 10.000 miles on it for 23.000 at a hd dealer hell i could buy a roadliner right now brand new for 7000 less, hell if i had my choice I'd be riding a Rune but who could afford that, like a guy said in another post its not what you ride its that you ride, and we should all leave it at that Hell Sonny Barger said once that if the Hells Angels had of started riding Honda's they would have been the big dog on the block

I'm not going to say anything that hasn't already been said, but on my trip from WV to Key West a couple years ago, my nephew, riding a Kaw Mean Streak and the rest of us riding either R*'s or Royal Stars, happened to lose a headset cord to his JM radio. The first place we pulled into was a mega HD showroom. Needless to say we were the only metrics in sight. Went up to the parts counter, asked the service manager if he had any replacement parts and he said... You guessed it, "Our brand dosen't fit your brand of RADIO, what he did next was get online and look up all the JM distributors in a 100mi radius for us and printed out a map. Told he was sorry, wished he could help more, thanked us for stopping by, and told to have a good trip. He provided us with names of all indpendent bike shops and foreign dealers in the near and not so near vicinity. He, IMHO, went above his duties as a "BRAND" dealer and did all he could to help us on our way. So, as has been said before, there are still some people out there who really don't care what you ride, they just enjoy knowing that you yourself enjoy riding on two wheels. 'Nuff said.

Been riding HD all my adult life. There was a time when I wouldn't have touched a metric. It was the loyalty/American thing. That changed for me starting in the late 80's early 90's. What changed it was the progressive movement by HD to sell out the real biker to market to the 6 figure income weekend warriors. I felt then, and still do, that HD sold out the true and loyal real bikers that had stuck with them through thick and thin since WWII. I payed 4500.00 for an Electra Glide Classic with 1300 miles on it in 1982. I think that is evidence of how far HD has taken it. It's cool, they made a comeback and are making it now. For me, I have found an alternative because I guess I am in a state of Boycott somewhat. Do I like HD, yes I do, would I own another, yes I would, but I can't get past the price they are asking for one now days. The Roadie gets me in the wind in my kind of style and I am okay with that. Besides, I like being different than the masses, I don't want to be one of them. What I fly designates me as the real deal anyway.

Whatever the brand, it's not the bike, it's the rider........
We went riding last Sat, had 2 HD, 1 Honda, 1 Kawasaki, 1 Suzuki and me on the R*. Didn't see a single one not smiling and enjoying the company and the day! Just enjoy the ride, what ever it may be.

I paid $7000 for a Honda Accord in 1982, now they run $24K+ so I don't think HD is gouging anyone, it's simply inflation. A new Venture stickers at around $17,900, not far off and maybe equal to an Electra Glide Classic. A Gold Wing is comparable in price to an Ultra. My personal opinion is you can add all the fairings, hard bags, etc., etc., to a Road Star but you still are far from having a touring bike, there's much more to a touring bike than the bolt on's.

Obviously prices increase with time but find me a new Heritage or Classic Softail (which is comparable to the Roadie) for a comparable price to the Roadie, and I will agree with you.
