I just got my bike the other day and other than a set of grips and handlebar is bone stock. I was hoping to get some advice to "hop up" the engine a little. I read about the stage 1-3 pipe mod and will consider this as well based on the feedback I get here. What can I do to get some more grunt out of this bike?

Open up the pipes or get new ones. An open air kit. Port the manifold. And jetting. If you want more off the line grunt you can go to a smaller front pulley. After that it depends on if you want to go inside the motor.

Yeah, what Musky said. I'm really happy with how mine is running with the following: Cobra 2-into-1, K&N air filter (poor man's BAK), Barons jet kit, Barons adjustable PMS, AIS removed. I haven't yet ported the manifold, but that's coming up. Only other thing I'd like is the Dyna 3000 ignition so I can let it rev!

How much does the AIS restrict the power?

Probably about 0 to none, sprad, but it sure is ugly, and it does promote some exhaust popping on decel.

AIS is not performance related ... it 'injects' fresh air into the exhaust stream to lower emissions.
