Paint Color Question 3 Years ago
Does anyone know if the white paint on my 2004 (technically called 'Yamaha bluish white cocktail' ) is the same white that's used in the Roadies with the tuxedo (black & white) paint scheme?

Thanks--

RK

Was the Black & White scheme from the same year?

Yamaha uses the same Japanese brand paint as Nissan and Toyota, so if going to the paint store ask to see color chips for the same year cars and you should be able to find a match.

Also might want to check with Looney as he has a lot of the factory colors already cross-referenced with PPG color codes. He hooked me up with the ones for my 2000 MM Edition.

Re:Paint Color Question 3 Years ago
Thanks for the quick feedback dollarmtn & MrFurious...I found the answer on the Color Rite site (I've purchased a little touch up bottle from them). Seems that tuxedo bike is a 2005, and it's the same "bluish white cocktail/Pearl White". And it was used for the 2006 white bikes as well... The 2000 Millennium white is different, though...called "New Pearl White"...the "new" version came 4 years before the...new version.

Thanks,

RK

Re:Paint Color Question 3 Years ago
Colorrite.com is ok if you just need a small touch-up bottle, but if you're buying a pint or quart for painting saddlebags or a fairing they're paint is WAY overpriced. $190 for a quart? I can get a quart of PPG for less than 1/2 that, and I know the quality of PPG paint.

And yeah, the white used on the 2000 Millennium editions is totally different than that used on the later bikes. The 2000 has more of a creamy-tan/gold tint to the pearl coat, whereas the later white was like a pure Arctic white.

Just go and pick up some red, they you don't need to worry about matching up the white.

Like Doc said, just pick a new color.

10 months later, and my 08 has been re-painted twice now.

But, I'm nuts, or something...
