Help with carb settings 7 Years, 2 Months ago
Hello,
Just installed the Barons BAK yesterday. Removed the AIS tonight. The people at Barons told me to use the 172.5 main jet with my BAK and stock pipes drilled out to Stage 3. I set the pilot screw to 3 1/2 turns as suggested. Fired the bike up and seems to pop now. Any suggestions? Only got to ride about a mile at it is cold out. Thought I might wait to make any adjustments until I could ride more but wanted to see if anyone suggested anything different.

Thanks, aviator

You'll find the setting varies depending on the ambient temp. I'd wait to fine-tune it until you have close to normal riding temp.

I have found that the recommended Baron setting is a bit too rich for my area for an aftermarket pipe and the BAK. I used a 170 set on the 4.5 on the clip.

3 1/2 turns is a bit too much as you're at the end of the usefulness of the PMS. Where do you have the clip on the needle?

From my experience, I'd recocmmend a 170 main with 4-5 on the clip.

Docshadow,
Thanks for the help. I have the clip on the #5 slot on the needle. Figured I needed to wait until the temp warms up a bit to get it right for my normal riding temps. Thanks, aviator

You didnt say whether or not you had removed AIS. You will get popping and backfire if you dont remove. I would go ahead and remove if you havnt already done so before I did the fine tuning.
