Ohhhh my god...super easy and cheap spectre intake 4 Years ago  
So, I was at the auto parts store the other day (pepboys, auto zone, etc.) and I ran across a brand of intake filters called Spectre. I bought a 2 1/2" to 3" coupler, a 90 degree bend, a bracket to support it, and a filter (just to see if it would work). Low and behold, the 2 1/2" coupler matched right up to the carb intake and installed the rest. This all came out to about $30 and for the money it is an outstanding buy, not only for looks but for performance. The filters are similar to k&n (they are cleanable and lifetime warranteed). It looks outstanding and I am very happy with it. I will upload a picture later...good luck to all that try this...

This totally beats buying a $300 filter assembly online.

Man I have been looking at those too every time I go in to the parts store and wondered the same thing. They have a number of configurations too so we might be able to get very creative. Good job!
