Planning a trip there in July out of La Crosse.
I would say "go west"
Basically The Great Plains are out there and you need to cross them.
Either blast across them the fastest route, or explore as you go.
Sorry I have no road reports, I'll be riding with a Goldwing driver down the Interstate.
Have a good trip.

Thanks for the tips Looks like we'll be heading down I35 into Iowa and then I80 through Iowa and Nebraska yeah I know - real exciting. I lived in Denver for several years ago and used to make that drive when doing the annual road trip back up to northern North Dakota. Finally I76 in Colorada and then going south at Brush to the 'Springs. RCSstar1602 - I'll let you know how the roads were. Looks like a lot of road construction.

Seems like there is always construction going on, check the CDOT site. I know there is some going on at Castle Rock and in the Springs. I-76 and I-25 have gotten crazy in the past few years....yes even more so than before...be careful

I'm going to C. Springs from Iowa in July. I'm taking U.S. 20 across Nebraska, I love the wide open grassy expanses with the long sweepers of that part of Nebraska. When I get to Wyoming I'm going to angle SW and cross into North Central Colorado so that I can enter Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park from the west. Then it's east on Trail Ridge Road into Estes Park, then wind my south to the 'Springs. Not the quickest way but it's that type of route that I love the most about motorcycling.

VIKING, the key word there is "supposed". Whenever you go over Trail Ridge be sure you bring full winter gear just to be safe. I usually don't even think of it until July or August.
