Wait until he gets the bill.

He'll think both of his nuts got sucked into the engine...

first thing I thought of when I saw the title of the thread was the poor guy who had his nuts trapped in the slats of a chair.

I've been very tempted to reply with a solution of "wear briefs instead of boxers"/

Re:Nut sucked into carburator help! 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Well my mechanic called this afternoon and ask me to come by after work.
I stopped by and he had the head off the rear cylinder and the cylinder removed from the engine.

I didn't take my camera so no pictures but the nut ended up right between the valves and scared the edge of the head near where the gasket seats pretty good it also pinged a pretty good impression in the top of the piston also.

The piston and the head will go out to the machine shop tomorrow for evaluation of repair. My mechanic doesn't think that the piston is cracked but will have it cleaned and check just the same.

He also thinks that the damage on the head can be repaired.

We expect to hear from the machine shop by monday.
Fireman, when we re-install the K+N we are going to use nyloc nuts this time and put them on the outside of the filter.

Is this how you did yours ? what did you use for a spacer on the rear bracket ?

I put the K&N on mine... nylock nuts on the outside of the filter, bolt through from the inside.

I didn't use a spacer to make up the difference in the rear bracket. I made my mounting bracket from an old aluminum street sign and bent it to reach back to the mounting hole. I made the mounting holes in my bracket the same size as the originals and put the original rubber grommets through them.

If your mounting bracket isn't easily bendable, or becomes too short if you bend it, spacers can be easily acquired at any decent hardware store.
