Rear Tire Sizes 2 Years, 11 Months ago
I am looking to get a longer milage rear tire. Many people have sugested to me the Dunlop Elite Touring tire. However, the closest this tire comes to the stock rear tie size (150/80h-16) is Dunlops 160/80h-16 which is a tad wider. Has anyone had success with this tire? Does anyone know of any problems with going with this slightly larger tire?

You will probably like the ride quality better. Also your speedometer error is actually closer to correct with the 160. The only drawback is the 160 always cost more than the 150. Just do it.
peace out.

Just did the 160 rear myself. The bike seemed a little taller but that may be because the OE 150 rear went to 11,571 and was pretty flat in the middle. I don't scrape boards as much as i did with the 150. Again, maybe because of the high mileage on the OE tire. No issues fitting under the fender/subframe.

Thanks for the info everyone. I have been riding this bike since 2000 and love it. I recently found your web cite and found a wealth of great information. I wish I had been here before. Thanks again.

Let me ask these questions, whats the widest tire that will fit the STD rim, and whats the widest tire you can fit in the STD fender with a new wider rim

from what i read 160 is the safest on the our rim size as far as fender its the sub fender that needs to be ground down and I think a 180 tire will fit if modified.
