I have a friend that was an ex- politician (an honest guy that had plastic lawn furniture in his government supplied apartment in Ottawa - he wanted to save the taxpayers some money...)
Meanwhile on the evening news, our Governor-General was out shopping for one $21,000 carpet for her accomodation with taxpayer's money! )
My friend says that politics is "all about the money" and filling your pockets, and filling your friends pockets. Governments will never do anything to save the taxpayers money, unless the politicians can secretly get a big chunk of the savings for themselves.
Human nature is "all about the money."
I heard somewhere that they want to start "taxing" ulta-efficient cars, (as they do not provide enough tax-revenue from the little amount of fuel they burn, to pay for road rebuilding.)
....And exactly HOW MUCH WEAR DOES A 1300lb. SMARTCAR IMPOSE ON A HIGHWAY???
They don't even use the fuel-tax revenue to fund road repairs anyways, it all goes into a general fund that gets P***** up against the wall somewhere else.
The governments don't care about the environment or fuel economy, they're just looking at new ways to get more tax dollars out of the people.

Don't count on your taxes, or your fuel prices to ever go "down".....IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!!
Environmentalists like David Suzuki are talking gloom-and-doom, while brainwashing the public, and secretly collecting millions of dollars and living in mansions and flying around in fuel-guzzling helicopters and planes to make a story, just to get richer and richer. ....IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! That's all it's ever going to be about.
