My 2 cents: Vent the gas cap AND lose the fuel vent line. Replace the fuel vent line with a foam filter pad from a small, disposable painbrush. The handle from the foam brush can be easily removed. Slide the foam pad over the nub on the tank and secure with a small cable tie.
