If you had SVS it would do it all the time and get so bad it wouldn't run. Sounds like you might be leaving the choke (enricher) on full too long. I pull the choke out to full and as soon as the bike fires put it back to half. Then ride it easy till it warms up,which is usally half too one mile. By then turn it off. If it still wants to stutter I pull the choke out alittle for awhile. These are cold natured engines.

See my post today I had another person e-mail me fo my cure. BUT before you do anything have you done Musky's choke knob trim yet? I would do that first. Then if you still have a problem you can download my cure.

Why do you think you have SVS?

Hold a piece of tissue paper up to the pipe off the rear jug at idle and if you have SVS it will suck the paper in and then blow it out.Normal is obviously going to blow the paper away from the pipe.....Coug

Following Docs advice..I installed a barons jet kit..followed the directions and done..Also did the choke trim..Doc said the barons kit was easier to dial in and he was right.
I think the svs thing is basiclly the bike running lean. I used the 175 main, 3.5 turns out on the pms....She even sounds different and the mileage is good.

Re:Sticky Valve Syndrome 2 Years, 11 Months ago
I have a 05 with 19000 miles and haven't had any SVS. I have however discovered that my bike likes 3 1/4 turns out on PMS and the idle at around what I deem to be around 900 rpm. I may be off base but wonder if its really a to lean condition rather than SVS. I suggest this because when I changed plugs about 10000 miles ago the back 2 where pretty black and after the PMS and idle change they seem to burn pretty clean. Seems like out is leaner and in is richer on PMS.

Seems like out is leaner and in is richer on PMS. if this is truly the case, you may have an HSR carb. did you buy your bike new..?

Re:Sticky Valve Syndrome 2 Years, 11 Months ago
No I purchased used. Also already had some performance goodies like Dyna 3000, 31 tooth pulley,BAK and HK 3" pipes. Don't believe its and HSR because it has dual throttle cables. Don't know how this thing is jetted and maybe its the stock jetting that is requiring the 3 1/4 turns out. However when I had it at 1 7/8 to 2 14 turns she still ran well but popped back on decel and had carb cough on occasion. After the adjustment to PMS, accel pump and idle it has eliminated these issues and I can even get away with throttle blipping.
