Re:nemesis racing coil 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Does anybody know how much Coils and wires cost currently and what website (or company) to get information &/or buy from? I have a 2001 Road Star and she started not idling very good for about a week, now she's feels like shes missing on at "least" 1 cylinder and she don't idle at all (have to give some throttle). I changed the plugs, the wires "look" good, but she's still missing. I see 2 coils & wire sets, would I need to change both?

Thanks

DK Powder coating sent me an e-mail that said "We dont carry the Nemesis coils anymore. The Dyna coils will work fine for you and you can find them at any of your other favorite vendors". I've always worked on my cars, but I just got my Roadie about 5 months ago and I'm not sure where to get parts, besides the dealers (usually too High). Some one wrote $180, but didn't specifiy if that was for 1 or 2 coils. Could anyone give me a another "specific" website or company name?

Thanks again.

If you are sure it's the coils and wires then do a search on Dynatek DC4-1 coils ... there are a number of vendors who sell the coils so shop around for the cheapest price. I saw $136 on one site.

You cannot change 1 coil unless it is the identical type.

Tough to hear Nemesis no more ... I have a set of their coils.

Swiggy, have you done the troubleshooting described in the Service Manual on pages 7-14 & 7-15?

The coils may not be your problem. There are other sensors that could be intermittent or malfunctioning.

Re:nemesis racing coil 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Well, I took my bike out for a run about 2 weeks ago and I was wearing shorts and felt a splash on my leg. I stopped and it was gas. I got home looked inside my carburetor while I had the bike running and "A whole LOT" of gas is comming out of the carburetor (out the main chamber and out of the hole that has a hose that goes to the air filter assembly). About 4 weeks ago I took a 200 mile ride and evrything ran good. The next day my bike was a little hard to start and after a few seconds it would not idle and die unless I gave some throtle, this is when I thought I might have a bad spark plug, but now I'm thinking it was flooding. About 3 weeks ago I took my head covers off and attempted to adjust the valves. I had never done this before, and as far as I could tell they didn't need any adjustment (althoug my valves are still a little too loud), so I just put everything back together. I also changed my spark plugs and fule filter (with NAPA #3007). Today I took off my gas tank and I couldn't see anything not connected. What could I have done to make soo much gas pour out of my carburetor or is it something else?

Sounds like either your fuel pump is bad (too much pressure), or the float valve is clogged or in need of adjustment.

There may be a trouble shooting section on the pump in the service manual.

Did you put in new gas recently from a station you don't ususlly visit?

BTW - There was a recent thread that addressed the same issue on another member's scoot.

I bypassed the fule pump and now the gas is not pouring out of the carburetor. I took it for a ride and it seems to be running fine, but she's a bit hard to start, is that because it needs a fuel pump? I took her to 65MPH with no problem. When at stop, she is idleing a bit higher than I remember, but not much. I read on some other Fourm that I may not need a fuel pump, is that true? Thanks for suggesting that it was the fuel pump.
