update on noisy lifters 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Well, picked bike up from the "they all make that noise" dealer. Yamaha agreed to pay all of the dealers "diagnostic" charges so I just picked it up and left. Took it to another place and the service manager was really cool and non-dismisive. He was maybe in his 50's and brought out a stephescope. He said the rear lifters wre making the noise and he ordered the parts right there and that it was NOT a normal noise in any way. Supposes to pick it up tomorrow and I'll get the pics of the magnetic-heatsink oil cooler I made that some have asked about. On a side note, I got my old bar hopper back. I regreted selling it in the first place and the guy could not pay me what he owed so I had him bring it back. I can't beleive how much power it still has for a bike older than me. It's been neglected a bit but is on her way back, it won't take much thankfully. Hope this picture works:

Be sure to let your "They all make that noise" dealer know how they dismissed a real problem as being normal. This is why I don't do dealers.
