Fully loaded ride 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|
|
I know most of us take long, overnight rides, gone for days at a time.
I've loaded the bike down with all my clothes, rain gear, tent, sleep mat, sleeping bag and even a cooler. All this without a trailer!
What I've been wondering, is how many of you have a picture of your bike "Fully Loaded"? List the contents too if you can remember. It might also help some of us to figure out what to take on our next trip besides a Credit card.

I'm loading her up with a tent and all that for the Mid-Ohio trip we're taking later this month. In the past, I've only had two pieces of luggage and an extra helmet (gator netted to the touting bag). Not sure pics of that would be much help.

Loaded up for Sturgis 2 years ago with the same stuff you had Darn. Clothes, tent, sleep mat, sleeping bag, even strapped a camp chair on it. Didn't have the cooler, but also had a case of beer strapped on for a few days. Your's looks pretty well packed. Mine looked like the Clampetts.
I learned from that trip to put the tent, sleeping bag, sleep mat and chair in a duffle bag. Made it a lot cleaner looking. Probably more aerodynamic as well.
This year's trip was a lot easier. We nixed the camping so all I had was one bag strapped on.
I'm liking that trailer idea though....

Hmmmm a duffel bag would consolidate a lot of stuff, and I wouldn't have to keep checking the Rear view mirror to make sure it's still there I like it! I have a few from my days in the Navy too! Might have to dye it black and get a plastic liner for it, but it's a good idea!
The trailer is something I'm working on for 2 up trips (she's got a bunch to pack you know)

I don't carry anywhere near as much equipment as you do - I don't camp anymore. I got some leather luggage and I can pack enough for a week at the beach. (Minus the humidor, it goes in my daughter's car!)
I would definately try to come up with a way to enclose as much of your load as possible. You're right, it makes the ride a lot more fun if you're not worried about dropping bits and pieces of it along the way!
Oh, and I just pack everything in plastic bags before it goes into the luggage.

Putting everything in plastic (except the rain gear) is almost a must. Most of my luggage/bags have a liner or are water resistant. I just bought a new Saddleman sissybar bag with a top roll bag. It expands to 3500sq inches, plus I have the saddlebag liners for the side bags. I'm looking for a good fork bag that I can put my rain gear in. Ideas?
My new sissybar bag..
