problem after lengthening wires 2 Years, 10 Months ago

I just put on my new apes and I lengthened all the wires. After reconnecting everything, I have found that everything works except my turn signals and my horn. High/Low beams, start button, start switch, front brake, they all work fine. Just no turn signals or horn. In the two connectors for the left side handlebar control(in the headlight bucket) I only have power going to the Light Green, Pink and Red/Yellow wires. It goes in and comes out of the connectors so they are fine. Should there be more with power going to them for the two that arent working? I checked the fuse for the signals and it is fine. Now its above my paygrade. any ideas?

Check each wire for continuity .... put one end of the meter probe on the control end of the wire and the other end of the meter probe on the other end of the wire (wherever it goes). If you get no continuity your solder job is bad.

All of the previously stated three wires that have power to them from the wiring harness are functioning and I believe they are all for the headlight. The rest do not have power coming from the wiring to the control.

Yes but you ground wire may not have continuity so it does not matter if you have power in.
You need to make sure all wires have continuity as that will satisfy you (any me  ) that you have good splices.

I do not have a continuity tester so I will be getting one tomorrow and will check all the wires then. As for right now I have checked the pink wire which goes to the horn. It has power going into and out of the connector in the headlight but it does not reach the horn. The other two wires with power are the headlight. I am not able to figure out which wire supplies the turn signals because there is no other wires in the headlight with power which leads me to believe there could be a ground problem? All the fuses are fine. Also, what is the sensor-looking part that is on the clutch lever perch? should one wire going to that have power without the bike running?

That's a new one on me, maybe you have a headlight modulator..?..
FYI..when you get ready to check continuity, be sure to disconnect the battery or you could fry you new meter...

found the problem.... when i pulled the wires through the sleeve two of the solders pulled apart. Everything works now. I am still curious about the sensor on the clutch lever.

Do you have one of those headlight that continually flicker during daylight. If so, that is part of the system. It would be a light sensor so to turn that function off at night.

no I dont have one of those headlights. there is a small plastic pin that sticks out of it and goes in and out when you pull in and let out the clutch.
