Sorry Tony I should have paid better attention to the subject,Yamalube or Full Synthetic?? If you have a roadie under warranty and you have a mechanical failure during this warranty period the scumbags at Yamaha will void your warranty if they realize you have used anything besides Yamalube and a Yamaha filter in your bike. I love my Road* and loathe its creator.Hope this helps.

Filter .... maybe .... especially if you're using one of the car filters that some folks use.

Oil ... I highly doubt it .... as long as it meets specs (SAE). Yamaha recommends API Service SE, SF, SG or higher and has a CAUTION against using oils with anti-friciton modifiers.

to the clinic Tony! I use Mobile 1 20/50 MC with a ST filter from Wally World. Insert oil and filter in search for more feed back. All kinds of research on the topic. I would prefer synthetic over Yamilube any day, the motor being air cooled and such and living in Dallas.

Post some pics! stick around a great place.

Welcome.

I'm in the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50 synthetic camp, with the Wal-mart Supertech 7317 filter (made by Champion).

Yamalube actually makes a full synthetic, I've used it in the past, am currently running Amsoil. I plan to keep my bike for many years so I use full synthetic, if I was going to trade it in a couple of years I'd run dino oil.

I just switched over to Bardahl 20-50 full synthetic. It does quiet the valve train/timing gears etc.

I'll probably switch to Mobil1 V Twin synthetic next time though, it's cheaper where I live.

How many miles do you guys go on a synthetic? The OM says 4000 miles on dino oil.

I used the Yam oil at 1st; but after complaing about all the engine clatter and hearing from you all.
My last oil change was Mobile 1 20w50. I havnt got a chance to even ride it since the change but Im very anxious to see if it really does make a difference. (with the noise) Im confident that the protection will be better though.
