Yamalube or Full Synthetic?? 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone has used Full Synthetic oil in their Roadie. I've been doing some research and have "heard" that Full Synthetic works better for running the engine cooler, which is a plus for those of us riding in southern states. Does anyone have any experience in this or is it just BS? Which is truly better, stock oil or full synthetic?

Thanks,
Tony_StarRider

There's a TON of oil threads if you research the forum. There's even a great tutorial on oil changing and filter cross-references. Many people have switched to syn. I probably will on my next oil change too just because it's really hot here in summer. BOL and welcome.

Just use the search in the upper right corner and you'll find everything (and then some) that you've ever wanted to know about Oil.

BTW, I use Full Synthetic, Mobile 1 15W 50

I took everyone's advise here a long time ago and switched to synthetic. I use Mobile 1 20w50 and a K & N chrome filter KN-303c

No complaints. You will get lots of opinions. Use what your bike likes.

Been using Mobil 1 extended life 15w/50 or the regular Mobil 1 15w/50 if the prior is unavailable since the 600 mile initial oil change in my '04' Silverado. Got 10,000 on it with no problems. The old girl actually runs better now than when new. I have also been using the Super Tech 7317 oil filter(Walmart brand)for the last three years. It's a car filter for late model Honda and Acura vehicles. I've been a gear head nearly 40 years and I would be well aware of diminished performance and/or related mechanical failure as a result of my choices in lubrication products. I believe in using quality products and saving a buck when I can so this is what I came up with. One of our Roadie brothers said it best earlier in this thread, "use what your bike likes".
Have a safe riding season boys and girls. Vick Out

Sorry Tony I should have paid better attention to the subject,Yamalube or Full Synthetic?? If you have a roadie under warranty and you have a mechanical failure during this warranty period the scumbags at Yamaha will void your warranty if they realize you have used anything besides Yamalube and a Yamaha filter in your bike. I love my Road* and loathe its creator.Hope this helps.

Are you sure about that?? I switched to Mobile 1 after the first 2500 miles, the dealership didn't mention anything about it voiding the warranty. Also I think Mobile would be interested in that as well, I think they believe that their product is better than factory specs. Maybe someone was yanking your chain??
