AIS Removal on a 2008 Road* 2 Years, 7 Months ago
Well, I finally got around to removing the AIS from my 2008 Road*. If any of you remember my previous posts, I originally received the wrong kit from my dealer.....I have to admit, they were very good about getting the correct kit from Barons and I went to work on the project.

The directions start out by instructing you to remove the gas tank. Luckily, I visit the "Road Star Clinic" forum often and I decided to go with the "real experts"....you guys! I left the tank on.

Anyway, if any of you are contemplating the removal of your AIS on a 2008, let me assure you it's the easiest thing I've done with wrenches in a long time. All you have to take off the bike is the left side fuel pump cover (although the pump is actually in the gas tank), and unbolt the regulator and let it hang. Then it's just a matter of removing all that ugly plumbing in front of your engine!

I took my time, and it still wasn't more than 25 minutes of work. Took it out on the road, and I couldn't believe the difference. No popping....less engine noise....and it looks much better!

Thanks to everyone for their support.

As an Old Retired Cop you should know it's against the law to tamper with the EPA mandated exhaust emission control system.

Glad to hear you gotter done and it running well.

Guys:

I bet him a box of donuts he couldn't do it in less that an hour... So, there was quite an incentive...

Great job!

Talked to a bud yesterday, who went riding with some off-duty cops the day before... he told me they all wore novelty helmets of the polo variety (like my own)!!! Really???
