Setting up and Adjusting your TPS 3 Years, 7 Months ago
This thread discusses the Content article: Setting up and Adjusting your TPS

Hi Gram,

First of all, THANK YOU very much for posting this adjustment. I had no idea what that thing was before reading your article.

I've been having problems with throttle hang up since installing a Maxflo. I rejetted according to Lee's specs and ported the manifold at the same time. I also went from Bub Big Willies to Xccelerators. Now when I let go of the throttle, it hangs us for a few seconds (3-5) before resuming normal idle. Also, if I turn the PMS (Maxmix) in all the way, the bike keeps running.

Someone suggested looking at the TPS and I did that. I hooked up my multimeter to the blue and black wires and got a reading of 5.05k ohms. When turning the TPS, the reading wouldn't change. Well, once in a while it would drop down to 5.04. I multiplied that by .13 and .15 and got 0.6565 and 0.7575. I re-installed the TPS and hooked up to the yellow and black wires then I set the lower reading to 0.67 or so. The highest reading (full throttle) is now approximately 3.7.

Did I do this right? Is there something wrong with my TPS? Should the installed reading be up around the 5k ohms I got when it was unhooked?

Could this be the cause of the hangup AND the engine not stalling with the PMS at 0 turns?

Thanks,
R
