Air Intake 2 Years, 11 Months ago
I was just wondering what you guys think. I am trying to decide what kind of Intake to buy for an 07 roadstar XV17AWW. I was wondering the difference from the hyper charger to the Air Spear. How much a difference for the cost. Plus I have already Jetted my bike when I installed the full Cobra Speedsters. Do I need to rejet again? Thanks!

Not familiar with Air Spear but seat of the pants you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference between most intakes.

You don't need to rejet when changing out the intake if you have jetted the carb optimally for pipes and intake. However, sometimes a slight tweek may improve mileage/performance.

Followup question Doc. What kind of giddyup should one expect in changing over to an aftermarket intake? Assuming it's jetted correctly.

Thanks....greeny

It's noticeable if you have aftermarket pipes.

When you change out the intake port the manifold ... it results in a 'smoother' operating bike.

Bought an '06 R* w/ Hyper charger on it. How do they do if traveling in rain? Looks like it could be a problem sucking up water? Anyone have experience?

The Spear would obviously suck water. But, I think they have a "sock" that fits over it. Spraying with ScotchGuard would be suggested. Darned if I can find one, though....
