Air Ride Questions 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Questions for you air ride folks ....

I have a two-up setup that I use once in a while. When I get someone heavy on the back the tire rubs on large bumps.

I assume that the tricky will allow me to raise the rear to prevent this from happening?

As you raise it up does the ride get firmer?

Thanks,

Doc

Only speaking from the Venture Royale I had before the Roadie, Doc, but my air system definitely made the back firmer when I increased the psi. Don't know if this helps ya or not in your situation.

Doc:

You bet. The ride stiffens as the bike rises. At 120lbs, it's at ride height and pretty firm. If you put another 10-20 lbs., I'm betting you could put Big Bear behind you (not that I'd suggest it for obvious reasons). But, should be rock solid.

Obviously, I've never even had a back seat on my bike, so don't hold me to it...

Thanks for the info guys ....

If 120# is ride height ... can you pump it up more or is that the max you can go up?

At 120#, I gather from your comments that it's stiffer than stock with the preload maxed out?

At 120lbs, it's all the way up with a little bit of squish left in it.

120lbs is not the max of the system(don't really know what is). But, it is the max in the air pressure sensor I put on. It tops off below 90lbs and shuts down the compressor right where I wanted it at 120.

I couldn't speak to how it rode stock(dealership to home). I only had 10 miles on the bike before I yanked the stock shock off...

pretty sure thats the same as the kit by street boutique but i cant seem to find their web page...a guy on looneys i was talkin to had it and loved it but could never get it to air up all the way, every1 suggested he probably had the relay arm flipped and forgot to unflip it when he did the air ride

besides that, i hear thats the way to go since it uses a shock, droptopcaddy made his own and i feel like you probably have the know how to do it your self too with his design help

Here's the Tricky setup.

Shock (vs air bag) is the way to go.

One of those, if I remember correctly has some sort of two button deal that locks the rie height with whatever amount of air pressure you wish. I think it was BMS.
