Well, they are just pipes, no shields, so they will turn color...if that doesn't bother you, have at it.. If I wanted to wrap them, it's the way I would go....

Thnx FlashBack-not worried about blue-ing; had a nice set of pipes on my Sporty that blued very nice indeed so I'm not too fussed on the look.

Moreso I was looking for any issues with mounting, quality (again mindful of the $$) or anything else. There's a set on eBay and I like the long, thin look of them.

Re:BIG GROWL PIPES=BIG MISTAKE 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I have a set of cobras on my bike now that have rusted terribly on the rear pipes after the headers, the previous owner let them rust down practically. So I myself ordered a set of the big growl long rifles, which look like my cobras, and have a slightly bigger bore at 2 1/4 inch instead of 2". I am going to try a set of the 4" baffles in them to quiet them a bit. If I don't like them, I will return them at my expense, I will not be out much, but I think I will be satisfied, they have to look better than what I have, and as far as jetting, mine runs a tad rich anyway, so I should be ok. I will let ya know how it goes when i get them on this week. I am a bit worried about having to buy heat shields, heck they cost more than the pipes!

I actually picked up a set of the big growl long riffles for my 03 roadstar 1600. I know they are not the best but hope they will do till I can afford a set of nice ones. Any idea of the jetting I should have for those? I have no idea what is correct.

These are the pipes I put on mine. They look and sound great (no baffles), and cost me $235.00 including shields and shipping.

So...what's verdict folks...? I've got my eyes on a set, yeah I know they're a bit on the less expensive side and I've enquired with Khromewerks (who are on summer break!).

Now my R* is due a set of mufflers for sure-the constant weather riding is affecting the chrome badly so, a set of Long Rifles (and any advice there) or something else the Clinic can suggest? Overseas here too so go easy on the suggestions...!

I noticed the ones listed on ebay now for $89 are "drag pipes with minor bemishes (scratches & minor chrome flaws)

i have had no issues with mine. with only minor discoloring. with good sound. mine mounted up with no problem.i did go with baron family jewel tips to tune the sound better.i will be change to hardchome american classic.

frankallen with no disrepct i beleive your big growl pipes are the sharp shooters NOT the long rifle the difference is the sharp shooters have the downward slsh cut ends and the long rifle is a straight cut

You don't need to rejet for an exhaust change.
