My '07 does this also, however I even notice some "twitching/moving" even at slow speeds.I thought that it was maybe from the ruts in the asphalt roads caused by heavy truck traffic. But then I would notice it doing it just before I make a turn onto a side road.It feels like the rear suspension or something shifts or moves or I don't know but it gets my attention when it happens. Anybody had anything like that happen?
I had the same problem..... especially 2 up. Going into a corner the suspension would load up making the bike feel real mushy. I changed the spring under the bike to a BARON 900lb, no more problem. The bike seems to be "planted" better too!

Well I have upped the tire pressure and ridden, pulled the fairing and ridden, cranked up the preload on the rear shock and ridden...
I still have the wiggles at 55+mph only. The wife even followed me in the car and she said she could see it from behind.
SO, I'm thinking neck bearings, tires (the bike was sitting on the showroom floor for 2.5 years after all!), I will be sure to have the neck checked out next week when I take it in fir the initial service.
Any tips for me to check out the neck bearings myself? (I don't have a bike stand.)
Anything else to check?
Thanks All!

I not sayin.I'm just sayin. My roady acts much differently in "clean air" as opposed to "dirty air" ie...traffic, tractor trailers and so on.She tracks much straighter w/ no one in front of me...........no matter what. Clean air is better.
I took the windshield off and gave her a hard test run (no shield) and found out....obviously....much smoother at high speeds and in traffic. You can actually "pin" the speedo w/ no problem (with no sail in front). If you look close there is a pin!
Put the windshield on along w/ the homemade lowers and take for a rip and find that the combonation of the shield and the lowers actually stabalizes the bike at high speeds and "greatly" reduces the buffiting..........at any speed.
Just depends on the mood I'm in when I leave the garage as what set up I run
damn I love this bike!

CSnakes , If you feel the bike unsafe (which it should not...) take it to the dealer you bought it from , explain your concern and what you've tried , and let them take it for a spin. If there is a problem , it should be under warranty. Remind them that it really shows above 55 , so around town riding won't reveal it. You should not mess with anything mechanically (yet) , until a dealer has seen it. My thought , anyhow. BB

I think Big Bear has the answer. That would be the best thing to do, tell dealer what you got before yuo mess with anything "on the scoot". You don't want to void tne warranty. Just my thoughts.

Hammer, I've tried everything I can think of, different roads, straight, smooth, rough, with traffic, without... and the combinations of each with and without the windshield. It just keeps happening! I do appreciate the suggestions and I am going to get Bucks lowers in a few weeks. I'm really looking forward to trying them out.
Bear and Dean... you guys are absolutely right.
I am planning next week to take it in for the initial service. I will be sure to speak with the Service Manager and the Sales guy that I worked with (my cousin also bought a bike from him 45 days ago...). I did mention the issue to the sales guy when he called 2 weeks after I bought the bike to follow up with me. He told me to check the tire pressure and to be patient while the tires "break in". I think he meant wearing off the glossy oil coating over the tire. He did say if it continued to be sure to hit them up in the service department. The sales guy has been there 25+ years, so I'm hoping he will have my back if I need some "support" with the shop.
Thanks Again guys!!!

Well it seems many of you were on to something with the windscreen and the buffeting! The dealership found that the rear wheel was 0.5 ounces out of balance and corrected it.
Then the lead mechanic/Shop Manager took the bike out with the screen and said at 70-75 mph he was scared to take a hand off the bars and that he felt the bike pushing left to right as well as his helmet being pushed "all over the place"
Without the windscreen he said "it totally transforms the bike, take the hands off the bars at 80 plus mph and its solid and straight down the road!"
SOOOO, the lowers are definately in order (Buck will have an email tonight) and I will work from there.
The shop Manager gave me the 800 # for Yamaha corporate customer service and said that he can't believe the poor performance of the "factory Silverado Windscreen", that he had never seen anything like that in nearly 20 years and literally hundreds of bikes (probably more than that). I will call Yamaha and see if I can get them to help me with the issue as well.
Thanks again to all of you here, I hope the lowers do the trick as others have shared, and really appreciate all of the insight and advice.
Thanks All!!!

I have the short Siverado screen and lowers that were on the bike when I bought it. I have never had them off, but 70-90 on the slab in real heavy winds, it tracks on rails. Go figure, maybe the lowers are doing the trick?
