Another single front rotor question??? 2 Years, 7 Months ago
I have a 03 Warrior and have had a 21" wheel on it for a while. I am doing some mods and decided to try a single front caliper for a while. The guys over on the Warrior forum, while awesome, are mostly into riding the Warrior as a sport bike and think a single caliper setup is appauling.LOL

I have been reading through some of the archives here in an attempt to see how my brakeing is going to be. Thought I would just come right out and ask seeing how many of you have switched to Warrior master cylinders and such for your setups.

I have the stock MC, stock 4 piston caliper, and a stainless brake line. Do you think my braking power will be adequate?

Any opinions or info is much appreciated.

I have the setup .....

- Warrior MC
- Single R1 caliper
- Single R1 rotor

It's about equivalent to the stock dual setup on a 1600. I have no problems when riding single and can lock up the front end at 30 MPH if I try.

Oh yes .... agree with rstarny ..... if I use my single setup hard and often it will overheat.

Sounds like I will be fine. I left the "sportbike" soul of the warrior behind long ago. It is def a cruizer now.

What is the feel on the brake handle Doc? Is it really hard to pull or what. Bike doesn't want to pull to one side while breaking does it? I have heard that before and can't believe it is true.

I don't notice any pulling to one side. I've had others ride it and that's not what they notice.

Yes ... you do need to pull harder .. but then again I use two fingers most of the time and have my hand quite close to the lever pivot. With a full hand and properly place on the lever it's not that difficult to lock it up.

You can try the single set up temporarily (your set up would be like mine) and if you don't like it you can always return to stock. Just block off the other line at the T.

BTW .... you'll need a SS single brake line as the stock rubber line is too mushy, so remember that when you're testing it out.

Nice bike .... wrong color .... but nice bike.

I picked up a custom line from the local chopper shop to use while testing it out. I'm expecting my new banjo bolts in th mail today.

New color is coming soon! Trying to get my parts together for new fenders and then she is going to be Brandywine candy over black base. Here's a pic of a front fender I piced up on Ebay. Needs a little trimming but I am happy with the overall look.

Like the fender

Watch the length on the trailing edge ... looks a little low. I'd advise taking it for a spin to make sure it's not too long.

Envy your set up ... wish I had enough room.

Post pics when you have a chance.

I will definately be posting pics. It is going to be a while though. I was doing some other small mods and decided just to see how it looked mocked up. I am probably going to cut 4-6 inches off the trailing edge and lighten up the mounting point a little.

That's what I did .... thought there was too much material there.

Check my website .... I have a before and after pic of my fender.
