Starbars & or Kickback risers??? 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Hello. I have both the Starbars and Baron Kickback risers sitting in the Garage. Think I am going to put just the bars on, or maybe the risers and bars together. Or maybe just the risers. Although I like the wider Starbars. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody here was running both together, and what over size cables they were running. I don't want to run the cables behind the trees. Also, any info of someone just running the bars, or just the risers, and what length cables you used only if running in front of the tree. I'm thinking +2 would be good for 1 choice, and +4 or 6 for both together. OK, long post, but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

PS. Did allot of searching and found good info, but saw that alot of people rerouted, or said the stock cables were tight.

dont have starbars, but got some beach bars on ebay the other day and put them on with my barons kickback risers...for a short guy the combo feels great ... electrical is just fine...my brake line is routed behind trees but i am changing to in front of the trees because of clearance with the tank and i bought a 25 inch brake line which i think is about 5 or so inches over stock...my clutch cable routed behind trees im runngin 2inch over so im guessing in front would be 6 or so over.. throttle is also behind trees and stock has plenty of slack so in front of trees maybe 4 to 6 over as well

Hey GJCARVING, what did you end up doing? I've been reading about the Starbars and it might be my winter mod. (did I mention the W word already? Yikes)

Darn, are you trying to end summer early? Behavior such as this could have you banned for life from any roadstar forum. You can make it up by sending $20.00 to ...... Winter is worse than the four letter words.
You know the starbar would make an excellent mid summer project.

Oh no, I'm not taking the RS out of action, every sweet summer day is precious to me. By the time I figure out IF I want to, find out what else I need to order, ie longer cables, riser... then save my money, order the parts... it' will be close to the big W.

I have the Star Bar on my bike (no riser) and the stock cables work fine, actually better. This pulled the cables away so they don't rub on the back side of my windshield. I had to pull some of the extra harnessing out from inside the headlight, but there was plenty and I love the bar. The only recommendation is to grind out the bar weights from your stock bar and slip them into the Star Bar so you don't increase your hand vibration. You will also have to drill a couple of small holes for the factory cable clips, if you decide to go that route. - RK.

Do you have a picture of your bike with the starbar?

Here you go, but hard to see from this angle. I can snap a closer photo(s) if you want. Let me know. Love it. - RK.

They claim that it makes the bike easier to handle? The CG is better, you get less numming in the wrists and arms? Have you notice any of those?

I have always fought numb hands when riding, these bars have helped immensely. They are both wider and pulled back vs. stock, and fit me just right; I'm 5'9". I also have the Ultimate seat and have pushed my boards 3" ahead (plans here on the Forum), and it's like riding in a Cadillac. The other great thing I did is add a Breakaway Products cruise control, so I can relax my right hand once in a while when riding. - RK.
