Ben Herr Manifold Gasket Question 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I'm about to install the Ben Herr's Ported manifold on my bike and I am wondering if I should put any gasket sealer on the gaskets or just bolt them right up without any sealer. I would think that no gasket sealer is needed due to the nature of the type of gasket but I bought the manifold used and the guy before me has some gasket sealer left on the old gaskets. I bought new gaskets so I want to do it right the first time. Thanks for the help.

I would read the installation instructions, if it calls for gasket sealer then have at it, if not then just be careful putting it on. If still in doubt, call the company that made it and ask them.

Its always better to do it once right then get a real schooling.

Well I just got a reply from back from Ben Herr and here is what he said.

"No you do not need gasket sealer. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE ALLEN HEAD BOLTS as this will cause the intake flanges to bow. Hand tighten and then give a final snugg. DO NOT USE A SCOKET WRENCH TO TIGHTEN"
