Seat Mod 2 Years, 10 Months ago
I took my stock seat to a couple of upholstery shops today to see about getting the gel foam put in it. One place told me that they had put the gel foam in several motorcycle seats only to have most of the people return to have it removed, they then installed memory foam and the people liked it better. When I asked the other trim shop which they thought was best all they would say is " I Don't Know".

The first trim shop also said they could cut out some at the back of the seat to make it similar to the mustang seat without it pushing me foward. and actually would probably let me set back an inch or two. I am a tall man (6' 5"so I can't afford to be any closer to the tank and could do it for $100.00, the "I Don't Know" guys wanted $165.00 and didn't know if they could cut out the back to give me the extra leg room.

Anyone have any advice on which is better the memory foam or the gel foam.
Thanks,

I did a mod on my OEM seat myself. I just put memory foam in it. It did make it MUCH better. BUT I just had to have a custom seat so I bought my Ultimate seat set which is memory foam. If you do a search you can find the how to article on doing the seat yourself it isn't that hard.

There's some guy here on the clinic been saying he does a good job... I think he's asking $150.

Me? I scored an Ultimate on one of those popular auction sites and love it.

PapaBear on here did mine - installed my ButtBuffer (looks/feels gel-like, but no liquid) and a second one in it to get my 6'2" / 300+ lb behind onto the rear of it. His turnaround was quick and he exceeded my expectations. Like Curt, I thought it helped, but I landed a used Ultimate set from a STAR member and it's so much more comfortable even for a big guy like me.
