Re:how to clean bike 2 Years, 10 Months ago
For my day to day general cleaning, I use S100 on the engine, wheels, and under the bike. Then hose it off. For the rest of the bike I wipe it down with Windex and then follow it up with Lemon Pledge. When I get in the mood for a real good cleaning, I'll use the S100 over the same areas I mentioned but then I'd get my pressure washer out and ONLY do the under side of the bike and wheels. I'd pull the tank off and use Windex to wipe every thing down. Then I'd use "ICE" to go over any painted surface I can. The bike shines better than new when I'm done.

A shady spot, a light coating of foamy engine cleaner on everything metal, glass or plastic, a few minutes till it starts to run and dry, then a quick rinse.

Wipe the seat dry, go inside and grab what I'm taking for the ride, then ride out and find a nice 90mph stretch of road to get the beads off.

McGuires polish/protectant every half a year or so to keep the shine.

I would rather ride a clean bike all day, than spend the day waxing an immaculate show bike in my yard and I never dread cleaning it.

Chrome, Glass, and Paint. Spray it on like your cleaning your coffee table. Buff it good so you don't get a wax buildup. I started using it years ago on my sport bikes.

After I wash the bike real good and then ride, when I get home I wet a t-shirt and wipe the bike down and dry with a towel. The front of the tank, crash bars, back of the mirrors. foot pegs, all seem to get the bugs the most. A quick wipe and ready to go again.

I use windex all pupose. I get a lot of tree sap and bugs on mine and it takes it right off. the only thing is my wife is starting to wonder where all the windex is going to.

Mr. Clean Car Wash system. I'm more into riding than cleaning, but for general cleaning it works well and with the filtered rinse there is no need to wipe it down to remove or avoid water spots on the chrome!

I use John Deere All-Purpose Polish..p/n ty16169, it is made from soybean oil completely biodegradeable, if that is of any concern to you...the stuff is great, works on the chrome, the painted metal and plastics, even the windsheild if you have a plexi one....goes on easy, comes off even easier, cleans and shines all in one step...I havent found anything better....
