Thinking about selling 2 Years, 9 Months ago

Hey all! I haven't logged in for a while, but I check in every now and again.
So, I am thinking about selling my roadie. I don't have the time to ride nearly as much as I'd like to. I really love the bike, but having to pay nearly $1000 per year for insurance when I ride maybe 2500km doesn't make a lot of sense. My thought is that IF it sells, then once the kids are grown I can always get another motorcycle.

Anyway, my question is how much to ask. I won't give it away. Here in Southern Ontario, a new Road Star lists at just under $18000. Mine is a 2003 with 14,500 km (yeah that's right about 9000 miles).

How much should I be asking? I believe that in the US, a new one can be purchased under 10K, but here they are $18000 (dollar is almost par but that is what it is).

You've answered your own question... it depends upon your locale. Our experience and local price doesn't matter. I can buy a new leftover from '05 or '06 for $8k US at either one of my local dealers. My insurance is $185. I bought my used Roadie... an '01 with 3,100 miles back in '07 for $4,600. I don't think you could get $18k US for your bike where I'm at... $12,500 maybe, maybe a bit more.
